Animals in Need

National

Animals can be a very important part of our lives.

These days especially there are so many pets that are homeless.

Please visit your local Humane Society

the next time you're looking for an addition to your family

Project - Africa

Global

Alicia Kimbrel graduated UW and Boston Univ.  After her trip to Malawi in 2004 and her trip to Kenya in 2008, she knew she would be back to help.  Upon graduation, Alicia immediately joined the Peace Corp and off she went to Africa.

She is teaching English, HIV/Aids awareness, and hygiene among other things in Mwezi, Rwanda.

Rwandans have a severe shortage of learning materials, food, clean water, clothes, etc...  We would like to help out by supplying ANY books and ANY education tools from the smallest pencil to a small telescope.

Unfortunately because of the enormous expense of shipping items to Africa, we are very limited when it comes to purchasing new/used supplies.  We would appreciate any suggestions to cut costs on shipping and any deals on used supplies.

Due to shipping costs, donations will be made in groups every couple of months and sent directly to the Post Director of the Peace Corp in Kigali, Rwanda.  Donations made directly to the Peace Corp are a tax deductible write-off.  Right now it takes from 3-8 weeks for a package to arrive in Kigali and the same for a return item to come back to us.  We will NOT have any receipts until they receive the donations and mail back the receipts - please keep in mind this could take months, but they will come.

**  Unfortunately, it turns out some of our shipments aren't making it all the way to Alicia for her village.  There are now quite a few boxes "missing".  Obviously everyone there needs some kind of aid and we're sure the missing items will be put to good use.  We need to replace the crayons, pencils, paper, musical instruments, calculators, rulers, erasers, and glue. **  Thanks to everyone that helped out and is willing to help again, especially in these already financially difficult times.
